The Cook Family

I just love this sweet family.  Emily & Cody came to me for maternity photos when they were pregnant with their little man.  They had one of my most favorite maternity sessions ever.  THEN I went to their house for newborn photos.  Wyatt did NOT want to sleep for them... I introduced them to my secret....the sound machine.  He still sleeps with it they said :)  (Glad you guys finally got some sleep!)  Now, he's walking and talking and as cute as a button.   We met at Slate Run in Canal Winchester, OH one morning for their fall photos.  Wyatt wanted to run and explore but we had fun!

A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to make this quote into something pretty for her house.  Since it's November and I'm so thankful for all of you I thought I would share it with you.

A lego and a minion go trick or treating.

We took the kiddos to a friends house in a local neighborhood so they could trick or treat with their friends.  It was chillly, and mom of the year...I forgot their gloves.  But they were layered up and ready for some treats.  A few months ago I tried to plan our costume, a family costume...I wanted to be the Inside out characters but my little man wasn't having it.  He wanted to be a Lego.  So we had a minion and a lego.  How cute are they?! :)   We made G's costume...well by we I mean, I planned it out and my dad made it happen.  G was SO proud of how it came out.  Everyone loved it and kept complementing him and he blushed every single time.  It was adorable.

This happened.  He couldn't lift his legs so we had to lift up the steps to people's houses.  But we were walking and he face planted.  We all were cracking up, I thought my mom was going to pee her pants.  He couldn't get up, so naturally I had to take a photo first ;-)  I promise I helped up up after this!!

Hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Columbus Ohio Birth

If you've followed my photography for any length of time you've seen me post about Kelly & Jacob...or heard me talk about them.  BUT if you haven't, here's the scoop.  Kelly emailed me in January of this year...they had JUST found out they were expecting and NO ONE knew.  She had this plan on how she wanted to tell them all. We planned a "family photo session"  everyone met us, Sarah and I were there to photograph it and video it.  We would do a big group photo and in the middle of it, I would say... "Say Kelly's pregnant" and then capture their reactions.  We did it, and it turned out perfect.  Watch it here.  We stayed in touch and did their gender reveal.  View it here.  They were thrilled to find out they were expecting a boy.  Then I did their maternity photos....seriously one of my favorite maternity sessions ever.   Then it was time to wait for this special little man.  Kelly wanted to have him labor day weekend.  She text me at 8:00am on Saturday, said she was having contractions and was going to see how they went.  I packed my bag, made arrangements for my kids.  Her husband called me around 9:00am and said she was putting on make up (typical of her ;-)  ) and heading to the hospital.  By 10:30 I hadn't heard anything and I text him to see how it was going....no response.  Okay, no biggie I'm sure they're busy getting checked in.  He calls me at 11:00, she's a 9 and just got her epidural.  EXCUSE ME.  WHAT.  I left my house while I was still on the phone with him.  "Don't let them break her water"  "Please Lord let me make it there for them."  I prayed those things all the way there.  I made record time to the hospital, parked and booked it inside.  When the nurse buzzed me back into L&D I heard someone say my name; I turned around and it was a doctor that I know.  Sarah shot her son's birth and we did his newborn photos.  She was Kelly's doctor.  Best day ever.  She knew I was coming and was waiting for me.  She followed me into Kelly's room, broke her water and it was almost show time.

These two.  I love their love.  He adores her and she lights up when she looks at him.

Nice job on that Make up, Kelly! ;-)

When they decided with their nurse that it was time to start pushing, or at least test pushing....Kelly asked Jacob to say a prayer.   Perfection.

Then it was time.

Her eyes.  On the prize.  She used the mirrors, and kept her eyes on her baby boy making his way down.

I told ya.  <3

So Kelly is a teacher.  She brought this book for them to read to Gunner.  He got his first bath, a fresh blanket and was snuggled up in mommy's arms for his first book.  It was seriously the sweetest thing ever.

Congratulations (again) you two.  I seriously couldn't be happier for the two of you.  You guys are so sweet and I'm so glad I was able to be such a big part of Gunner's life, even before he was born.  I can't wait to watch him grow!!  <3

I'll be sharing his newborn session soon!!

Stephanie & Jacob's Dayton Wedding

Jake was in my friend's wedding a few years ago...referrals are my favorite!  Stephanie emailed me several months ago and booked me without even meeting me.  We did their engagement photos in the Spring then they're wedding day came quick.  They found this awesome venue in Dayton.   Cedar Springs Pavillon.  It was very much worth the drive out there.  The weather was perfect (a little hot, but the sun was shining and the sky was blue).   We had so much fun with these two.  Stephanie was chill and ready to walk down the aisle with her grandpa to see her fiance for the first time.  Jake was grinning ear to ear, waiting for her.

Thank you two for letting us be apart of your day.  We had so much fun, and I loved spending the day with you guys!

Jo, I love you for always pushing me outside of my box. <3

This was something special.  At the end of the night Stephanie's Grandpa pulled us aside and gave us each one of these crisp two dollar bills.  He told us if we never spend it, we'll never be broke.  It was the sweetest thing.  It's in my office, where it will stay <3

Just a few behind the scenes... with our super cool shades.  That's how we roll.
